Dental Crowns

Cerec Crowns

Are you considering crowns? At Boston Dental Design, we offer many options for dental crowns. As we get a little older, our teeth begin to change and are prone to decay. There are many possible reasons for this change in your smile.  These reasons can include bruxism(teeth grinding), general decay, cracked fillings, root canals, and many others.  If your tooth is beyond repair with a filling material, we may recommend that the best viable option to save the tooth is a full crown.   The reasons for this type of restoration in a badly damaged tooth are durability, cosmetic appearance, and overall support of the chewing function. Apart from our welcoming and well trained staff, our Boston dentist office is equipped with leading edge CEREC technology, giving you the following advantages:

  • The patient only needs one visit instead of two or more, saving time and money
  • The computer-aided design ensures an exact fit eliminating biting problems or return visits
  • The patient does not have the cost and bother of a temporary crown
  • Reduces visits means reduced exposure to anesthesia
  • The CEREC crowns are made out of ceramic, use no metal and are esthetically pleasing

Types of Crowns:

If we decide that you are in need of a full crown, there are a few different options for the repair of your tooth.  These options include a full porcelain crown, a porcelain fused to metal or gold crown, or a full gold crown.  Together, we will make the determination as to which of these options is the most appropriate for your situation. You can be comfortable in knowing that your new tooth will be virtually unnoticeable and will flawlessly complement the rest of your smile.

A crown made through a traditional dentist office usually requires you to go to the dentist office for two or more visits. At Boston Dental Design we offer the CEREC, one visit, dentistry process.

The CEREC process eliminates you having to come back for the second visit in most cases because the CEREC equipment resides in our Boston dental office, and we use the CEREC equipment to work on your porcelain veneer while you wait.

Despite all these advantages, many dentists have not embraced this technology for a number of reasons including the cost of obtaining the equipment, and the time needed for the training. The challenge is finding a dentist who has the CEREC equipment, and experience necessary for successful results. Dentists using CEREC must obtain additional training to obtain the results that are possible with the technology.

Dr. Zourdos has been using CEREC technology to make porcelain veneers for many years because of the convenience and results that he can achieve for his patients in one dental visit.
